here is yesterday's thread in case you didnt read it and want to catch up.
so, nothing new yet but i promised i would post pictures. i have read the Merck vet manual describe this as necrotic dermatitis (a little vague, dont you think?). on that note i am certain it has nothing to do with mange because i have treated them in the last 2 months w Cydectin.
here it is. i apologize for the gentian violet stain. it makes it hard to see.
i know these are basically all the same shot, but i had a hard time getting a good pic. there are two 'streaks' of crustier scabbing lesions fanning out over the two front quarters, but in the center where they meet you can see the pus-oozing worst of it. and the flies. gag. you guys are lucky pictures dont transmit the smell.
the top pic is a great example of her teats, and how they dont seem to fill up. this is true even when the calves are on and she has let down. i think there is a lot of edema.
here is another udder picture.
i transitioned her to full time with both calves and she has reluctantly adopted Jocelyn. even gives her baths.
how cute is that?
anyway, i gave her the second dose of Excenel today. tomorrow is the last shot. i am also giving her the Countdown 7000 from synergy animal products. to respond to your suggestion, Joann, i tried different inflations today but they didnt improve it. however they werent much smaller. i will have to buy some smaller to try them, and i dont know if i can right now ($). the smallest i have are Maes M221. with the calves on full time i am still going to try to milk, i have the milker dirty anyway from Rori.
Tricia, thank you for your support and great affirmation, that i should make a plan, follow it, look for results and modify accordingly.
suggestions and ideas are welcome.
