About a week or so ago I posted about Lily being diagnosed with a mummy calf.
We were going to spring for the C section and really go the extra mile for Lily...But a series of other situations have occured to sway us in the direction of culling her.
My hubby was offered a really good job in S. IN ( close to the flood areas but out of harms way) pretty close to Louisville, Ky. He accepted the offer contingent on our house selling.
So with this up in the air, we felt it in our best interest to cull Lily. Actually the news about Lilys mummy calf came one day after the job offer came thru. My hubby wasnt even looking, but this place came looking for him. So maybe its all for a reason.
I actually had everything set up to take the path to do the c section with the vet, and then we decided to cull. When the vet called and I told him, he was relieved. He said he really felt that was the best choice ( to cull) but knew that we had been thru a lot and wanted to keep her. He has been a practicing dairy vet for 30 yrs and has never seen this condition end successfully.
I am disappointed, but with all things considered I feel at peace and trusting that these events are falling into place for a reason.
As far as our moving goes, we'll see... the real estate market has gone to the birds here in MI. But "they" say things might be turning around. If our house sells we move, if it doesnt then we stay, hubby does have a decent job here, thankfully.
Anyway, thats the update. Thanks to all of you for advice and prayers and your kind thoughts! I will be stopping in when things settle ( if they ever settle!!!) Good thing is "they" say in S. IN that life moves at a slower pace than here in the metro detroit area, I can use a little slower pace.
