He's only 36. It was discovered about a year ago, but we ignored it, then it was 135/85ish, now its usually 140-150/90-100ish.
So the DR. gave him a presciption. But we dont want to do the drugs until we have done all we can do naturally. We are not the most disciple eaters. We do raw milk, farm raised meats. But we lack in the fresh produce area, we do indulge in bad things like snacks and fast food. BUT no where near to the national averages. I think we eat a lot better than most americans, but I KNOW we are not perfect. He doesnt exercise, but is naturally lean. We'll he might have about 10 lbs to lose but thats it.
So I KNOW we need more fresh veggies and fruit, and exercise. I've been reading some books I got at the libary, nothing special just what ever was on the shelf. It seems almost everyone thinks you have to go on the blood pressure meds to cure this. But its seems insane to me to do that when we KNOW that there are lifestlye changes we should make.
I am just curious if there are any positive testimonies out there of people battling high blood pressure with some lifestlye changes? Does anyone here have experience to say that maybe if he changes he can skip the meds?
Ok a few more questions. We have NEVER been smokers, NEVER excessive drinkers ( actually did not believe in drinking alcohol for most of our adult lives), but the past few years we have picked up a wine habit, now this wine habit is maybe 1-3 glasses per WEEK, which is very moderate. He drinks 1-2 cups of coffee in the morning only. So as far as the smoking, drinking, and caffeine he is very moderate or abstinent on these 3 big concerns. I want to know, is it neccessary to give up the 1-3 glasses of wine per week and the 1 cup of morning coffee? In all the books I have been reading, when they talk about giving up coffee or alchohol ,they are always talking to overusers. But he's certainly willing to give it up if it will keep him off drugs.
Sorry for the long post!
