Ok this is not my cow it is a friend's cow. She has a mini Jersey who was apparently exposed before the bull was sent to the processor. It was assumed she did not take as it looked as if she came back in heat. Well, her udder is now fairly full and starting to leak.
The bull was removed May 2nd, as were the other cows. I was supposed to purchase this one but life happens and I was not able to so the owner decided to keep her for a bit longer. The owner is unsure whether to milk her or not since she is already leaking. The cow has a small goat companion whom she is cleaning relentlessly now. Owner says the pins are not softened yet. She called me asking for advice .. but I do not know very much about cows. I am a goat person. With my goats I would be milking and storing the milk for when/if the baby comes along. This is a first time heifer who I am hoping will not be to rough to teach to milk. She has not had a heap of training. The bottom two pics are from Monday. The first pic was a few days before that. I will be giving her a hand with this girl for a bit. I wish I was able to load the video on here but not sure how to. Any advise would be appreciated. Up until now she has simply been on hay and a lick tub. Once she started bagging her owner started adding some grain into her diet as well as a bit of Alfalfa. I am waiting on updated pics as from what I understand her bag is much larger. I am unable to go there in person today due to prior commitments so I am having to go by the pics that are sent to me as well as video. Also, she is half Zebu Half mini jersey
