So I always had a rule, male cats only. This way it wasn't a huge rush to get them neutered, neutering was cheaper and if it wasn't done right away - still no kitties! That rule worked well for years, until one of the barn cats started getting UTI's in winter. What. A. Pain.
Male cats are apparently way more at risk to this, it's a serious issue, I'd never heard of it and don't know how my years of manly, male catness took so long to produce a UTI kitty. So when I went to get my last kitten a couple years ago, he was so cute and furry, and he was all along.... with his sister See where this is going?
Kittens always do better in pairs, so they both came home. I'd get her spayed, she'd live a happy, UTI free life. Well that idea pooped the bed because she wasn't even a year old and she got a UTI The Vet was flabbergasted as apparently female UTI's are rare, especially in kittens, but at least they aren't such a big issue like with males. Well, the second bite me in the butt moment has happened, now she's knocked up.
I knew I was tempting fate, she's over 1.5 years old. She could be on her third litter by now! But she looks like she ate a large Gourd. Alas, cats are not like cows and have a multitude of signs for me to know she's gonna pop in the next couple days. I have no clue when she's due! It has to be soon. It's only been 3 weeks since I was "sure" she was pregnant but I've been able to feel the kittens moving for almost a week and a half now. Although they must be getting too big to have much space, they aren't moving as much this week. Based on the All Knowing Google, you can feel the kittens at week 5 but only really feel and see them move in the last couple of weeks? Or something like that. Either way, I don't think she's far off, so I guess I'll have kittens to play with.
Even if it's not my ideal situation and I only have myself to blame... It's been years since I got to play with farm fresh kittens!
