To clean: dip each teat, let the dip set on there 30 seconds or more, then wipe off with a fresh towel. If she's really dirty, may need to repeat the dip and wipe a second time.
The type of teat dipper changes depending on the teat size of your cow. I really like the RJB low profile non-return dipper (https://www.enasco.com/p/C19715N) because my cows have small teats and this dipper is shallower, so uses a tiny amount of dip and gives good coverage. Foaming types are great, but sometimes expensive. For cows with larger teats, I'd go with a full-size type teat dipper with a larger reservoir.
There are a lot of different iodine teat dips out there. I usually just buy whatever is available at the dairy store that has emollients. For example, Hamby sells a 1% hambydairysupply.com/teat-kote-10-iii-pre-or-post-dip-1-gallon/
Does the udder balm (dynamint or such) go on the teat as well as the udder?
Chlorhexidine dips don't kill as much as iodine does, but would be a safer option if you think the cow is iodine sensitive. A Hydrogen Peroxide dip would be another alternative (make sure it has emollients, or it'll be drying).
