Well the title sums it up. We have some new horses on our place. One is not so new though. He is more of a return visitor.Headshot (now known as Roman) is back at our place ! Ms.Pigs son. His owner called me a few days ago asking if he and his buddy Moonshine could board with me for a couple months.
I do not board horses normally. It's a level of dealing with people I generally cannot handle. I made an exception due to the situation. She had essentially 24hrs to have them moved. She truly does not know anything about horses and relies heavily on the place she boards for good care etc. Well they both came off the trailer thin. Roman just thin...Moon about 250 underweight.
She was near to tears. Waiting on an opening at a reputable boarding stable for both horses. In the mean time she's covering feed & all here for them.
When Roman stepped off the trailer he was trying his darnedest to go to his old pen.Dancing like a fool. He's settled right in & made himself at home as has Moon.
We also had 2 departures. Joker & Hammie found a new home with a family full of children ranging in ages from newborn to 9 .I think it's 6 kids total. So yay!
Sinatra is still waiting on his home.
Now..for the new arrivals that are ours. We had 2 very emaciated geldings delivered to use last night. If I am being generous I would body score them at 1 - 1.5. The lady they came from had actually already put some weight on them. They came to her with rope burns on their back legs & fresh gelding jobs..think home jobs...no sedation from what I understand. These fellows are young, untrained and scared. I know I have to tread carefully with these boys. I just hope my neighbors can bare with me on them. I think I may need to invest in some blankets this year. I normally do not blanket but I do not foresee them getting a sufficient winter coat before it gets too extremely chill. As is stands I am thinking about rotating pens around today and putting the two boys in the barn paddock... Which is where I currently have Moon & Roman. Moon & Roman were at the same place these guys came from.
The boys need names. They actually did not come with names...
One is a big dapple grey and George is calling him Lazarus. The other is a gray & white paint my son is thinking about calling Silk.
