Hello all! So we received results today on our cows testing, and as we thought, she has Staph A in all three usable quarters. It is our understanding that the infection is so severe, that she had to have had it well before we obtained her, and is most likely the reason for her nonfunctional quarter. We also gathered that the infection is so bad, that any attempt to treat, would be unsuccessful. We decided, after hearing the results, to contact the dairy that we purchased her from, to inform him, so that he could investigate the health of his herd. He responded by saying,
"I take care of it with mms and the natural anti bacterials we use. Ask yourself what is an infection? How does it happen? The traditional farming will use chemical antibacterials on problems like this and they don't always work therefore it's a serious illness to them. Nothing is serious to us. But you are not us. I understand that most people are not going to take the steps we take,or go through what we go through or believe what we believe. Our cows milk is tested every 30 days by the state lab. When infections are found we take care of them the same way we always do . Take the girl off the line, get her back in balance while treating her with natural botanicals that kill the offending bacteria."
So my question to you all is this: Are we being dramatic about deciding to take her permanently out of production?? Does his response seem like nonsense to you all? I'm anxious to hear your experienced opinions!
What are mms? I know I'm going to do a face palm when I read the answer.
I think it stinks that his version of taking the cow off line is to dump the problem on someone else.
