Lannie your little Twinkie is sooo cute!
I am fostering 5 mom-to-be cats for a farm whom I am helping to get their cats all fixed. We have a little old farm house and space is also at a premium here. We do not have kids, so our second little bitty bed room is kinda the mom cat ward. One mom is feral and won't let me touch her. So she is in a giant dog crate. The other mom cats will each have their own crates too. Put on the bed and on the floor... It'll be cramped and a pain in the behind, but everyone will be warm and safe.
Sounds like you have a nice little nest set up fro Twinkie. But sounds like she may end up having them right next to you when she does, as she sounds like she really trusts you and is thankful that you are helping her out right now. Maybe when she does have her kitties, go get her nest and place her in it?

AnnB, please do not get an un-spayed female cat for your barn cat.
Fixing a cat has no bearing on whether or not a cat is a good or bad hunter.
All cats are different in their hunting abilities. Not all my house cats are good at all. But I do have one that goes on regular mouse patrol each night.
My barn cat was un-neutered before we caught him. I got him fixed and it did not affect his skills. I find his dead mouse, vole, mole, etc. offerings all the time. He's only one cat and doing a fantastic job helping me. My barn was literally overrun with mice. I couldn't keep a grain bag around to save my life. The repeater traps were catching 15 mice a night!. Now maybe one mouse every couple of weeks?
Bobby gets kibble, fresh bowl of water, and of course some fresh milk each day too. Cat's that aren't fed, do not have the energy to waste on fruitless hunts. MOST hunts end up with nothing. A better fed barn cat enables them to keep trying and being successful in the first place.
