One day i will stop being suprised by the things she does. The past couple days that she had been getting up i usually hang around the pen waiting for her to get tired and lay down so that i can put her food in front of her and a nice pile of hay. Well today i went out there and feed her and waited, and waited, and waited some more. She finished off her feed, got a drink, nosed around her bedding for a but and then hobbled off into the another part of the pen that has a little bit of grass and stuff growing and went to grazing. She ain't gettin much of anything but she seemed to be enjoying what she was getting. I even had to close the gate behind me (which ive been able to be lazy about) because she tried to follow me out. She hobbled around for quite a while grazin and then finally went over and laid down in a sunny spot next to the chicken pen.
I am reluctant to let het into the yard while she is still so weak and wobbly. I would hate for her to lay down in the way ,like behind our cars or something, or wander out of the yard. I dont want to tie her to anything either because she mighy get tangled in the rope. How do i know when she is strong enough to be let out? I know she wouldnt be getting alot of nutrition butit would encourage her to exercise and move around and im sure it feels great to her. I noticed she was walking a little odd too. Like her back feet were bothering he, like a cat with bags on its back paws. Im guessing its the long hoof walls. Maybr DH can take a look at them or I will later today.
We started a new bag of sweet feed today and i got it from my FIL since he had some extra. Anyway its different than what she has been gettin. The stuff i got was real dark and sticky, this stuff is dry and light brown. It was also a little moldy on the top. I scooped out all the moldy chunks and pieces i could and threw them out. She still ate it too so do yall think itll be ok. It looks like just that on the top was molded and the rest seems ok.
