Clara freshened 1 month ago and has been sick ever since. When she freshened she had edema and her her calf got real sick. I had the vet out and ha gave her and the calf antibiotics and also gave Clara lasik and and anti inflammatory and she seemed to be a little better then she got a very high temp 106 and the vet came out and he put her on antibiotic gentamax 100 ,I did teat infusions with Today fer 2 nights and he also tested her milk. The fever came down and her edema started getting better but the milk sample came back with Staf aureus so we put her on another antibiotic naxel. I gave her the last dose on Saturday and ran a milk sample to the lab on Monday hoping to begin selling the milk as soon as possible because I had spent almost 1,000 dollars on vet and meds and my husband was layed off last month and I have customers waiting. Well this time it came back she has Pseudomonas Aeruginosa and Staph Coag negative. I do not know what to do , she seems a lot better ( when her fever was 106 I felt we were losing her) She never stopped eating. I told the lab she had just been on naxcel and he said im wouldn't work to give her naxcel infused into her teats. My vet said he has never heard of this. So I went to a dairy close by and they recommended I use excide . I looked in my dairy catalog and it is 179.00. The lab had said the staph coag neg was sensitive to genamyacin , penacillin novamyacin or provamyacin and the pseudomanas aeruginosa is sensitive to naxcel so I don't know if the excide would work. Help.. I just don't know what to do. Will my other cows get this? Will the calf have this? It says online if they get this to cull them but she seems better though she still seems in discomfort when I milk her. I don't know what do..
