Yesterday I had some trouble with Mischief. He drank good in the morning, but not at all at noon. He had dry mouth, dry nose, no suck reflex, and when I got him up to go drink, he nosed around the cow, then went back to "bed". I went and picked up a bag with a tube to tube feed him som electrolytes, and got back about 4 pm. When I went to tube him, I was not comfortable (I've never done it before and I was scared I was going to drown him), and he seemed to have some suck reflex, so I put the electrolyes in a bottle and he sucked them back. He was a bit wobbly, but he later (8 PM) drank supper from the cow. This morning he drank good, and this noon he drank but not heartily. I wonder if he got too much breakfast?
This morning when I went to the barn, Rio was layed out on his side, totally limp, chewing on his tongue He was warm, all his vitals *seemed* normal (though I didn't check anything scientifically), but he was totally limp and not really responsive, and couldn't get him to stand up. After a while (I fed the cows stalls in preparation for them to come in), he got up, and I put him in the box stall with D and Mischief. He was mooing for the cow, then he came out and the two boys drank their breakfast. His stool was runnier than usual and paler, though I wouldn't say it was WHITE. Is milk scours actually white, or more a pale... uh, I dunno, but pale? Anyway, his lunch feeding today I gave him a bottle of electrolytes. He was up when I went to the barn, but he is pretty wobbly on his back legs. He is almost a week old. Is this just normal, or should I be worried? Maybe I should milk Shady RIGHT OUT in the morning before I put them on her, like I do DayZ? I milked her this last feeding because she only nursed one calf, and I got about 2.5 - 3 litres.
