Hi everyone,
I am hoping that someone can help me out. We are currently spending WAY too much on dog (and cat) food and I need to figure out some ways to lower that bill. My husband insists on feeding only the top quality dry dog foods to them, so I need to come up with ways to supplement or maybe even entirely replace that. We have done the math and for the amount that we would have to feed the cheaper food it works out to almost the same price, but I won't sacrifice $10 dollars to just buy the cheapest out there for them. One of the indoor dogs has to have the grain free food as she is allergic to just about everything else, and the other gets the runs really bad if she has some grain products (she seems to be okay with rice and oats, but thats about it)
I would love to be able to feed them all raw, but that is even more expensive, at the moment, until we get the infostructure in place to start raising our own. I have already started giving the dogs eggs (cracked shells and the ones that are just so dirty I don't want to clean LOL), but the two house dogs turn their noses up at them...spoiled things (they are really spoiled they were my husbands before we met and I always said that if he treats a woman half as well as he treats his dogs, they would be very well taken care of). The two Pyr crosses love the eggs, and they will lap up all the milk I give them. I am waiting for our girl to freshen again then will be giving them clabber as a regular part of their diet.
What I am hoping is that someone can tell me how much of their diet can be milk and eggs (especially if it is supplemented with some beaver meat) what would a daily ration look for a 100 lb dog using mosty eggs and clabber? Is it possibe? Has anyone done this?
Thanks for all of the suggestions.
Sarah
