Okay ladies and gents, here is what is going on.
Gertie I think is bred. She was with the bull Sept. 21st and I witnessed the whole thing. Marked the calendar (she has regular 21 day heats). No signs of heat 21 days after being with the bull. Mark the calendar again and I keep a close watch on her tail and backside since bred. No mucus, blood and no jumping on my other cows etc. Soooooo I assume she is bred. This morning I go out to milk and she is fiesty. Not mean but just not her normal peaceful self. She actually stomped her foot when she finished her alfalfa pellets and swished her tail a few times which she NEVER does. I look at the calendar and if she was not bred she is due for a heat today! I panic and let her out with my other cows so that I can see how she interacts with them. No interest in them and they have no interest in her. I bring her in to the stanchion this evening and she has a little string of mucus on her tail. About 3 inches long. Clear mucus. Her milk production has not decreased (which it usually did when she was in heat). Could she be 4 months pregnant and still get fiesty and have clear mucus? There have been no other signs since Sept.
I know you must be thinking, girl just have her preg checked! The nearest vet is still too far away to come all the way here just for a preg test. I have just checked on those biotracking tests. I have never drawn blood and am worried I just couldn't do it. I missed out on those Preg-O-Vet tests that Rachel ordered for a bunch of you here. I guess I can just order one or two of those from the company. Have any of you rec'd yours and used it yet?
She has just got to be pregnant!!!!
