I have no idea why, not a cough, runny nose, might of been 3 months pregnant, only milking a gallon or two a day, in good condition, 4-5 yrs old, and went out last night and she was dead. Baffled, I hate not knowing why.
I am sad to lose the milk, that I have to spend money to get a new one, but me and her did not like each other, kinda feel bad that we never connected, but she would make me so mad, makes me laugh now to think of what a stinker she was, if she ran out of food while milking and I did not run fast enough to get her more, she would poop. She would kick to knock the machine off when I wasn't paying attention, do a real good circle back into the milking room while putting her out. She was a pain.
Well I have still milking, but she has two blind quarters, my other milking cow is getting so old and having a hard time keeping weight on her, I dried her up. I have a first timer this year and never milked her, just let her have her baby, she is little and has a little udder and I had to much milk so I did not bother, funny how we are over whelmed or squeezing every drop out.
My husband is calling John Maxwells diary today, we heard he needs to get rid of some Jerseys, maybe even a jersey/holstein. Think I would like a mix, are they alot bigger. Boy what a shame to be thinking of spending money on a new cow when I had a cow that would of last me for years. Well that is life. Things could be worse. I am thankful for the milk I got from her, she was one born on the farm.
Well all have a good day
