Ok...please remember first time here with a cow of any sort, let alone trying to see if this heifer is ready NOW! When we got her, the lady thought she'd gone into heat the weekend before. She was MOOing a LOT and was trying to get funky with all the mini donkeys. When we got her home, we 'thought' she was in heat that weekend (the very next weekend after the woman thought it) because she was being extremely pushy with DH, trying to get funky with the calves and goats and anything that would hold still... NOW...two weeks after what WE saw and three weeks after what the woman we got her from saw...she's MOOing again, trying her business with the DH again, and her vagina is swollen in the back. I see NO clear liquids YET, but we're looking and looking! I would give anything for her to be in heat today as I honestly don't know HOW to hook up the trailer or even how to load her by myself (she doesn't load all that easy, or didn't two weeks ago when we got her even if I could manage to hook up the trailer myself).
DH thought he saw a bit of clear fluids, I had him put her on the lead and I got up close and personal and although I saw nothing leaking out, I did part that fold there and it was clear mucousy sort of...but I dunno if that's just common moisture there or what! Never did look that closely before. I see NOTHING actually leaking out. In the meantime, our ram is staying extremely close to the ewe all the sudden (but he did that two weeks ago too!) and she's trying to get really funky with the steer that pushed me around the yard last week.
I could use a response that helps ASAP! I dunno if we should be loading her now and heading out or what?! She's 15 1/2 months old and this would be the first time trying to breed her. HELP! Any ideas? I can take a picture of her hind end if it'd help and email it to someone to see if you can tell from that?! Anything?? Today would be GREAT if we could do it today as I'd have help loading her butt up and hooking up the trailer.
Thanks in advance!!!!
