Since he did not give you a script for banamine, did he give you one for the steroids?
You can give the shots yourself; you just need the meds which you cannot get without a prescription.
If he did not, call him and have him call you in a script to your local vet supply for the banamine and the steroids. If you don’t have a vet supply, get him to fax a script to one of the online vet supply places and have it overnighted. As a last resort, you can get cow aspirin without a prescription. You will want to make sure it will not react with the drugs she has already had.
If he won't, do you have access to another vet?
Did he give you a reason why he gave her antibiotics? It does not sound like she has an infection. The antibiotics will kill the good bugs along with the bad. I would recommend that you give her some pro-biotic to get the good bugs a boost in her rumen. With her being down, you need to keep an eye on her rumen.
You can check her rumen by making a fist and pushing it in right in front of her left rear hip bone in the soft spot between the hip and the ribs. You should feel it push out on your fist about every 30 seconds or so. If it gets too slow or stops turning, that is bad.
Her leg, you can do cold packs and hot packs and try to do some physical therapy on it.
Also, I don’t think there is an issue with giving both the steroids and the banamine. I don’t think the steroids are exactly a pain killer. They may take down the swelling but not mask the pain. You will likely need to give her a pain killer to be able to touch/massage the injured leg. Again, you will have to talk to your vet.
Others might be able to give a recipe for homopathic immune booster too keep her from getting phenomena or some respiratory infection.
At least you have now isolated the source of the problem and can now make decisions with some knowledge as to the problem.
