A ready-made (some assembly required, LOL!) chicken coop!

I've been wanting Rich to build me some sort of enclosure in the horse barn, which we don't need for big animals anymore, except as a run-in if it's raining or something. But that project has been put off so many times, it's never going to get done. So I saw this thing pop up as a side advertisement on some webpage I was looking at, and I clicked on it to see what it was. It's PERFECT for what I want! We can put it together and stick it in the back corner of the barn, and the chickens can live in there. Most of the surviving roosters and guineas live in that barn, anyway, this will just give them a safe space, AND I can get some chicks or young chickens.
If I have to get chicks, I'll tack hardware cloth around the bottom perimeter of the "coop," so they don't get through the chicken wire, and we have water and electricity in that barn, so I can hang a heat lamp and stick the wading pool in there for the chicks while they're little. I have all the feeders and waterers, roosts, nest boxes, etc. from the old falling-apart coop, plus chick feeding/watering stuff. I just have to move them.

Of course, we'll have to put some sort of barrier in front of this thing to keep the cows from rubbing on it (which they WILL) and destroying it, but I think some t-posts and cattle panels would be sufficient. Also, the neighbor down the road said two of her hens just hatched some chicks. One has 10 chicks, but the other one hasn't left the nest with hers yet, so she doesn't know how many she has. Anyway, she said I was welcome to them if I want them, and I can wait until they're feathered to make it easier on me (not such intensive brooding duties). It'll be a mix of girls and boys but that's OK as long as SOME of them are pullets! Even if I have to get chicks from a hatchery, I should be able to start getting some eggs by next spring. I have missed my hennie-pennies! And now that both dogs are chicken-safe, the chickens will be safe and protected from predators and not have to worry about getting played with by a rambunctious puppy.
I'm so excited! I can't wait for the new coop to get here!
