They are growing well and I have moved them to the two horse trailer where they have lots of floor space. It has rubber mats and I dumped a lot of pine shavings in with them. I now have a one gallon water container with them and when they get a bit bigger they will get the two gallon one I had for the chickens I had years ago. They sure do love to eat! I am starting to give them kitchen scraps and they love it! Not to jinx myself but I have not lost any of them! I have some new pics from yesterday and will post them later today.
I need to put chicken wire along the outside of the chain link fence on the pen that will be their outside run so they can not stick their heads out and get bit by one of the dogs. We have some hybrid wolves and a German Shepherd that thinks chicken is on the menu.
I have their food and water containers by one of the back doors so when I open it it's easy for me to get to. I opened the door and my Bared hen fell out and landed in the grass. She freaked out started flapping her wings and jumped back into the trailer! I almost panicked and then had to laugh because she had no intentions of being out in the wild! She has become my favorite chick and she knows it.
The meat birds are growing fast and seem to stay close to the feed. They are the first ones to eat when fresh food is put out, and the last ones to leave it.
I have had meat birds in the past many, many years ago but a friend of mine did the butchering for me. He is not well and can no longer come to do it. I am going to be a cry baby when it comes time to do the deed. I will put my big girl panties on if Y'all hold my hand virtually and walk me thru it. I need to be able to do this. I will, I just forecast a lot of rain coming from my eyes.
