Well, if I'm an inspiration, it means I'm not a TOTAL failure. Peanut went home around noon today, but not before pooping all over my foot. Just a bit of Liquid Unhappiness from her, I guess. She didn't want to get on the trailer, and stupid me, I took the dangerous end and was trying to help her in. That'll learn me. At least I had my boots on and NOT my lace-up tennis shoes. That would have been a mess to clean up for sure. But the boots? I just stuck my foot under the outside faucet until all the poopy was washed off.
Oh, the "little girl" that named Peanut Butter I'm guessing is at least 15 or 16 years old. Maybe she's younger, and just tall for her age, but she struck me as being in her mid-teens. Unlike the other two girls the neighbor brought, she was very quiet and shy, so I couldn't really get a feel for her. The reason I don't know the neighbor's kids and their ages is that they foster a continuous chain of children. The ones I used to know when I first met them are all grown up and gone, and they've had many, many more. They said once that they adopt them, but they get money from the government for each one, so I think that's just fostering (?) - I don't know. Anyway, they're all nice kids, and most of them come to them as babies or toddlers, so they're raised on a working farm and at least they're polite and learn good work ethics (which is more than you can say for MOST kids nowadays, eh?). I was just surprised when I saw how old Peanut's mistress was. I had been expecting a 5 or 6 year old, LOL!
In Cricket news, she again refused to come in at all this morning, but PB was still here at the time, so that might have been part of the reason. I've been getting her in by putting treats in the stanchion and then leaving the room, but she was having none of it today, and not only THAT, but Morgaine decided not to come in, either, and both of them marched out to the pasture.

Rich was getting upset and was going to go out after them and I told him to just sit down. It's not worth all the aggravation. If she comes in tomorrow, I'll milk her out and see how things go from there, and if she doesn't, then I guess she's telling me she's done. It's OK. I still love her. I had Rich take hay for her and Morgaine over to the horse side, and make a second pile for them, and just let them be. They came in from the far pasture after they knew we weren't going to chase them, and had their breakfast. Meanwhile, Peanut had to eat her breakfast alone in the cow barn, but she's back home with her four little Jersey sisters now, so she won't be lonely anymore.
Not that she was lonely this morning, Maggie was out there playing with her and they were SO funny! Peanut would jump and snort and Maggie would back up a few feet and play-bow, then PB would come up and they'd sniff noses (Maggie even washed her face a little), then one or both of them would bolt in a small circle and start the whole thing over again. I keep taking away Maggie's playmates. I kind of feel sorry for her, but she went out and enticed Jasper to play after the trailer with Peanut was gone and the excitement had died down.
I'm going to make a nice, gooey, fattening casserole for dinner tonight and try to lick my wounds. I hope Cricket comes in the barn tomorrow, but hey, if not, she's made her decision and I'm good with it. I just feel like I failed her.
