I'm so glad to have her, too! Jasper can't do all of this anymore. The best he can manage is a fast shuffle, poor old guy, so he stays "home" in the corral and guards that while Maggie does all the legwork. He still has the heart, just not the legs.
You know what's REALLY nice? She doesn't seem to be afraid of thunderstorms at all, and rain? She laughs at the rain! Jasper, being a Pyr, is terrified of thunder and always goes and hides in his house in the barn whenever it's storming, but Maggie's right out in it all the time. I wonder if it's because Pyrenees, being from the Pyrenees Mountains, developed an instinctive fear of avalanches (which sound like thunder when the snow lets go), and Akbash, being from a drier and less snowy climate, didn't. Anyway, that's my theory, but whatever the reason, it's exceedingly nice to have a dog that doesn't run and hide at the first rumble of thunder, or a gunshot in the distance. Or a gunshot close-up, for that matter, LOL!

However, even though her coat is shorter than Jasper's, now that she's shedding, I'm finding out she has just as much HAIR! OMG, I start plucking on her and I can't stop. It just keeps coming and coming and coming... She'll be a skinny little wench when she's all slicked off for summer, LOL!
Sue, I have a couple pictures of her with her new collar on, but no spikes, obviously. I'll be sure to get some with the extra hardware once I have it done and back on her.
Don't ever tell Jasper, but for years I thought he was the best guard dog I could ask for, and he's very good at his job, but now I consider Maggie to be better, and not just a little better. I didn't think it was possible to get a better dog than Jasper, but Maggie has every bit as much heart and soul and bravado, AND she comes when I call and I can handle her, unlike Jasper, who still only trusts me 90%. I can't believe how lucky I am. Maggie loves and trusts me 100% and THEN some.
