My girls usually manure when they get up. If you know where they rest and don't have much ground to cover, maybe this would work?

On the mineral question- look up to see if you are in a selenium deficiency area. If you are then you need a high selenium mineral. Ask at your local feed store or extension office what is recommended in your area as you need to get the ones your cow needs and needs vary by soil in the area. I use nutrabeef from tsc
I use Purina dairy mineral NW , and mix it 1/3 to 2/3ds with a loose mineral salt , as per a vet , as it dose not contain any salt , it is for mixing into a TMR ration , right now I am using Wind and rain all season mineral salt as my salt mix , and have a large double 2 compartment dish from TSC , and put the mineral mix in the big side and baking soda in the smaller side Suzanne for the poop , is she an only cow ? I would just use a baggie and collect a small amount from a fresh cow pie , mine are pooping constantly

If she isn't an only cow , can you pen her up for a little bit? The stress of being separated should get something moving pretty quickly, or just get her up from a nap and she should give you a fresh sample.
I always offered an all purpose mineral as that was all I could get. I offered it free choice unless it was untouched and then I mixed the appropriate amount in the daily grain she received. Most of mine have consumed what they need free choice.

claytonpaul: A bull was put on her herd Late Last May so she was expected to be due between May1 and August. They quoted me August so I wouldn't be disappointing by a late arrival.

alpacalexi: My mini jersey cow is pregnant, however the last couple days her udder has deflated. My vet saw her on the 23 and said delivery in a couple weeks Is there a reason for her deflating?
