Jerseys have the "wild type " color pattern, which functions like red. Black is dominant, red is recessive, wild type will show if a red animal has one or two copies of wild (dominant form of red). One or two copies of black always produces a black animal.
Belle - Normande x Jersey cow Willow - NZ Jersey heifer Pringle and Bandit - heifer calves
This heifer is sired by a dark Jersey bull and roan shorthorn dam. Born jersey fawn colored, she quickly turned dark on pasture and is now nearly black. Everyone believes her to be jersey. I am very excited about breeding and milking this girl. Though her mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother, all here, are A1/A1, she came back A1/A2. Ive never had a shorthorn jersey cross come back with this color but I love it. p.s. Sapphire earned Christmas card beauty

claytonpaul: A bull was put on her herd Late Last May so she was expected to be due between May1 and August. They quoted me August so I wouldn't be disappointing by a late arrival.
