I think this is one of those deals where I just need people to tell me what I already know.
I'm thinking that I need to cull Eva after she raises this calf, but the thought of it just breaks my heart and makes me want to puke. Or quit.
She did freshen without milk fever this time, thanks to X-Zelit. So there's that!
However, I'm 99.9999% sure that the staph A. is back. I've not sent in samples, I really don't feel like I need to at this point. There's a few flakes on the filter about every third time, and the CMT test, while improving a little, is still gelling pretty heavy. Production is way lower than it should be, there's just some thickness in her udder. I would say she's not letting down well, except that she's streaming milk from all four quarters when she comes in, and oxytocin made no difference. I milk her last, in a separate bucket, and dump it. Don't feel like I need to spend a bunch of money telling me what experience tells me to be true.
Over the last three(?) four(?) lactations - she's had at least five rounds of Pirsue/DMSO. Spectramast/DMSO. Penicillin with and without DMSO. Probably a gallon of Mastoblast. Colloidal silver. Two full rounds of an essential oil blend infusion. Milked through once, dry treated all the other times. At what point is enough actually enough??
I feel like when it gets to the point that I need it, I should put Brie's and maybe Chloe's calves on her, let her raise them up, and when they are weaned....... yeah. Find a deserving freezer to put her into.
This sucks.
