I would say it is personal preference because the people on KFC seem to like them. But in this area, even the guys who use their rep don't like dealing with him, but did a "what else can we do??"
When we had our vet clinic running, he was supposed to fill it every 60 days. We would phone and he would say he would come by and he'd never come. We'd start to watch the tank and call him a few times to warn him it was getting low and he'd say he was coming by. THen finally we'd get really worried and he would not return calls and one night we'd have to go racing to Grand Forks (89 miles) to fill it when it was down to 1/2 inch and the rep would do a "YEAH as long as you have vapor you're good". NOT. The gas to go there cost as much as the fill.
He let it run dry twice (thankfully we didn't have straws in it, but used it for surgeries also). When we complained, the manager said he'd look into it. Nothing. We cancelled our account and they charged us $400 months after to renew our account. I finally threatened to take them to court, and then they just stopped with the irritating bills and Ben called the company head to talk personally and they wouldn't ever return his calls.
When we ordered a specific hereford bull for a local breeder when the rep showed up to fill the tank he said he couldn't order it and he'd just give us what was in the tank. (the breeder wanted dark eye) We said that wasn't what he wanted and he said the locals were podunk breeders and had no idea what they were doing so one bull was as good as the next. Not once when we ordered did we get what we asked for - the rep always told us he couldn't "order" anything, he could only ever sell what was in his tank.
Our and the locals only experience is with 2 reps that were like that. I was talking to a fellow who still gets his tank filled through Select Sires and he claims the reps would have liked to help us out, but that their managers keep telling him he has to drop this area because there are not enough sales. I don't know if that is true.
I have ordered from LIC and he treated me as though I was a big deal LOL (and I am a quiet gal who would prefer people think less o fher). He sent me personal e-mails and phoned me 4x to talk about bulls he recommended and ask what I was trying to do with my herd - at that time I only had 2 cows big enough to breed to anything they sold .
I have ordered from many other places and get excellent service, but from them Blah. I know many people on here are happy with them, but we could not even get phone calls back from the main headquarters.
