I feels sick... I apologize this is long.....
The E mail I just got from seller
Hi ****, well you must have lots of extra cash, most goat people don't take their goats for checkups or ultra sounds, it is sort of a put the buck out and wait and see. It would be interesting to know how much your vet knows about goats, we have found that most vets are not well versed on goats or sheep. We deal with a goat and sheep specialist in ****and he has never seen my animals but is very good at giving advise and we buy all our medications from him. Just be careful how much you put into your goats, you don't want to find you loose the enjoyment because they have cost you so much. And remember if you have livestock you will have dead stock at times, even with the absolute best of care, it just happens. ******

The above is the reply to a Email I Sent this morning
" Asking what medication /vaccinations I should be aware of to tell the Vet other then the dewormer and
Lice treatment that was just done.
I aslo said I was taking all 4 gaots to the vet for a health check and Possably ultrasounds to see who is bred and when due dates can "be" I aslo said how well they are doing, how much we are enjoying them and that I added Alfalfa pellets to the grains because the round bale I got for them was mostly hay grass"
NOT only did she not answer about meds or shots or any medical history...not even if any of them struggled giving birth last time or had any complications after. I am a crazy to think this information can be helpful for me? I have Never been with a kidding goat before. Plenty of humans, never gaots I am watching every youtube video I can find
This is why I want to take them to the vet,
One gaot has a nasty lump on her brow ridge. Seller told DH that she was head butted injury. it still large and hard.
I felt a little scab under one gaots bottom jaw. Small maybe a small injury from leaning over a fence? Or something worse CL?!?!?
as for being bred the only info she gave me was the were with a buck untill Nov 15 and removed after that date.
After I bought them she told me one was found upside down in a feeder and half dead. She was surprised she recovered. However she MAY not be pregnant if she had been bred now. I am ok with that I want her health checked more then a pregnacy check now!
The smallest goat has all the hair gone of nose ridge and some small scabs. I don't know what is normal bumps and scrapes.
I aslo want them tested for CAE&CL espeally now after she stated they have NEVER seen a vet.
My Dh stopped by and chatted with the Vet today in his office and he said that he can sometimes tell just by feeling/examining the gaots if pregnant and they may not even need u/s.....I live if sheep and cattle country and I think this guy may know what he is talking about. He wants us in ASAP as he is the on call vet for Calfing and the season is just starting and is the only one who can do u/s if need be.
So her "flippant i am being foolish and commenting about my finances that is NON of any ones bussiness" e mail really upsets me!
I can't get any more information?!?
I have no idea when they were put with the buck. She also said they are 2.5 months yesterday. My math says they have to be at least 3 month. So that 2 weeks differnce. ASUMMING they were all in heat at the same time and not with the buck more then a day or 2. I don't know how long they were with a buck. If it was 3 weeks that could set a goats due date ahead by 5 weeks!!! Adding the extra 2 weeks dating from Nov 15 plus if they were the buck 21 days prior... is that correct? This is why I need to know so I can be ready and not having a gaot kid 5 weeks early thinking it is premature. I am the kind of animal owner who likes to know the health and of my animals espeally if they are new to me. Am I WRONG to take them to the vet???
It will cost $70 for complete check up and u/s per gaot. $50 if no u/s is needed. Blood tests exta $15. Not to mention all the questions I have answered! I think it reasonable for peace of mind. I thought I was being a responsible livestock owner?
If I had bred them myself, gotten them as kids and not bred, most importantly had experience with goats I would not be taking them to a vet unless There was a issue.
Oh and I am very well aware that livestock have a expiry date and anything can and does happen...good grief!
Sorry for ranting so much.
