Such a fun way to start the morning. Thankfully, I only feel wounded although my jeans and shoe are punctured.
Slightly long story but my boss has a dog that's a mix of herding breeds with an instinct to bite the cows. Unfortunately, my boss isn't into training so the dog becomes his own boss. This has led to conflict before and griping (to myself). I've gone after the dog a few times including once when he lunged out and bit the bull we'd just locked in the squeeze chute. Sliced right through his hide. He'll dash in as we're moving cows in close quarters to bite and we end up nearly getting kicked. He'll want to herd new momma cows who take exception and then he hides behind one of us, who then become the new target.
Anyway, this morning we were moving a stubborn heifer in to be bred and she was being a bit difficult. The dog did his run in and grab while we nearly had her in the alley and she ended up kicking and bolting by us. So we went back to bring her again and as I was pushing her through a gate I quickly stepped forward and went sprawling. The @#$% dog had grabbed my ankle and jerked me down. My jeans were torn, the leather on my boot was punctured and the hard rubber gouged. It was not a nip but a bite and yank.
What's distressing is that it's not going to change anything and the dog is going to keep escalating his behavior. It was bad enough that he bit the bull but now he thinks it's okay to bit humans if he's frustrated and excited. My boss thinks he helps so is not inclined to enforce a stop.
Sorry for the rant. He's overall a nice dog and smart but I hate him when he's around the cows.
