Don't do anything, let the courts handle it!(if it even comes to that) Trying to handle it yourself can get messy and that's when mistakes are made that cost. She bought the animal and it was up to her to know what she was buying. Chances are if you don't do anything she will just drop it. It will be a lot of work for her since it sounds like she didn't quite follow the law when she brought it into the state. Just let it go, don't do anything but keep every document referring to the cow and sale in a folder for that 'just in case' scenario. You were threatened and your first instinct is to panic and go what do I do ?!? Its what most all people do and it is when your in the 'shock' phase that you get your self into trouble, just take some time and let things settle.
Story time- about that 'shock phase'
I had a friend who got a call on her cell, from a 'cop' asking her where she was on such and such day. Asking her personal information, what she was wearing on said day. Threatened her with a shoplifting charge. In five minutes she was bawling and giving him anything he wanted to know! Thankfully another friend stepped in and grabbed the phone and started chewing him out for questioning a minor without parental supervision/permission. It was a crap call trying to get a confession out of her for something she didn't do. Nothing came of it. She when into a shock mode and panicked and made mistakes.
Today I watched a video with my husband that absolutely floored me! This guy steals a girls purse when she turns her back on it to take a photo for a couple. The guy doesn't even bother running but puts it into his own bag and sits down at a close table. When she turns around the couple take of, jump into a van and wait. She is looking around and finally says someone just stole my bag! The guy gets up and offers to help - who took it? what does it look like? were there any credit cards? Yes, credit cards. Bingo. He says cancel those right away who do you bank with I'll call them for you? He dials the 'number' to the guy waiting in the van. The guy now gets all of her account information, sends her to a automated voice for PIN verification and 'cancels' her cards. Now they can use her cards. (It was a cracking scams video so she got her bag back) But the thing is she panicked and was in shock and just trusted that she was being helped.
I shudder to think how people prey on vulnerabilities. Don't take her word for it! Don't be afraid to get legal it sounds scary but my gosh remove the stress of trying to figure out the right thing and let the courts tell you what to do.
