It's thanks to the way you guys have enjoyed seeing my cow photos and encouraged me to try sell them that I'm about to embark on a new part time career in photography ;D
I took the bull by the horns, so to speak, and began researching where and how folk sell photos that are used for calendars, magazines, advertising and the likes. I discovered that there are such things as Photo Libraries!! If the owners of Photo Library websites like your work they will post and sell your pix on commission. There's some very good money to be made in selling good photos Let's hope I can share in some of it
With guidance from one of the most reknowned horticulture photographer and author in Australasia I have been offered a contract to sell future work on one of the few NZ Photo Library websites. The owner of this website hasn't wanted any other photographers work on his site till now. He just loves my cow pix but advises I need to buy a camera with at least 8 megapixels as a lot of his photos are bought for posters and calendars. The camera I have at present is only 4 megapixels. I was on a bit of a downer last night when told this but after talking it over with my partner when he got home from work this morning my spirits have lifted considerably. My partner is as delighted as me about this and so supportive (I'm surprised at this!) that he's going to start researching better cameras for me later in the day. I'll have a new, better camera soon by hook or by crook
One day when I get my own website I intend to have my own Photo Library ;D The internet makes it so easy for prospective buyers to find photos they like.
Just had to share my excitment and let you know that without your kind comments I would never have thought of doing this, thanks heaps guys
