I'm sorry! I haven't been posting because I figured it was getting boring now.
Jasper's doing GREAT. He's the first one up to greet me in the mornings, but that's only because he's hoping I have treats in my pocket. Some days he doesn't want to be touched, and other days he seems to enjoy being petted and scritched. It's a crap-shoot which mood he'll be in every day, though, so I don't worry too much. If he lets me pet him, fine, and if not, I just pet Kiara instead.
He "follows" very well now. I try to go "walkies" with them every time I go outside, and as soon as I start walking somewhere, they both fall in behind me to see where we're going. More often than not, while I'm walking, Jasper will walk up beside me and put his head under my hand so I can give him a pat or two, but that's about all he wants at this point. I try not to make a big deal out of it, just pat him and keep going, like this is the regular way of things and everything is as it should be.
He's SO gorgeous now. I need to take some pictures and post them. He's getting tall and very, very handsome, and he has a deep, ringing voice. His puppy voice is long gone. When HE barks, you listen! LOL!
I love the fact that he runs to greet me in the mornings now. I've been waiting so long for that. He's also started the "wave" when he gets up to me, you know the one when they're trying to be cute and get you to play. I have to ignore that (I'm the one who says when play-time is, not him), but that's just HUGE progress! I just melt every time he does it.
He's really smart, too. We got a new Rubbermaid trough for the horses to replace the old galvanized sheep trough we'd been using. The dogs drink out of the horse trough. Well, the new trough is a lot taller, and they can only just barely get their heads over the side to get a drink, and only if the trough is all the way full. So I set a cement block next to it, hoping they'd figure out to put their feet on that, making them tall enough to reach in for a drink. I've seen Jasper do it, but not Kiara. I'm sure she's drinking because she's not dehydrated (I checked, I'm a worry-wart), and she MIGHT have been the first one to figure it out and Jasper learned from her, I dunno. But he's the only one I've actually seen using the block so far.
He still wants to play with the chickens and he has great fun scaring the guineas up into the big tree by the corral , but he's behaving himself otherwise. Nobody's missing feathers and everyone shows up in the coop at night. So all is well on the chicken front, too. At least SO far! LOL!
