Oh, help. My DD's puppy, Maggie, got run over about an hour ago. I thought she wouldn't make it this long, but she's still hanging in there. I've been treating her with every homeopathic remedy I can think of, and it seems to be helping some what. I believe her hips were hit. When we found her, she was sort of splayed out on the road with all four paws out. She tried to raise her front end, but couldn't move the back. She didn't try to bite me when we moved her back to the house, but she did cry a lot. She's now whimpering, and trying to get up periodically, but screaming when she does. My guess is that she probably has internal injuries, plus damage to her hips and/or legs. As best I can feel, I can't find any broken bones, but I can't get to her lower hip without causing her a lot of pain. She has scrapes on all her paws, and some on her inner thigh, but that's all I can see externally. The worst part is my DH lost his job about a month ago, and there isn't extra money floating around, if you know what I mean. My DD is trying to be brave, but this is her beloved puppy that she got for Christmas. We've prayed that God's Will be done for this loving dog who's been a joy to us every day she's lived with us. I've prepared her that Maggie will either survive tonight or she won't, and if she's not going to make it, it will either be extremely painful (in which case it would be kinder to shoot her, probably) or she's bleedng out internally and will just go to sleep. If she survives, she's liable to have extensive bone breaks, and I don't know if they'll all be fixable. I just really don't know what to do from here. If money were no object, I'd have dashed her in to the Vet long ago, but something like this happened once before, and the dog's bladder and hips were ruined, and she passed away before the Vet could give her the shot to put her to sleep...under an hour from the accident. That's what I was expecting here, but the puppy is hanging in there. She's whimpering, but she's still trying to get up, and she's still interested in what's going on around her. She's bright eyed, and still loving. She seems to appreciate the Hypericum, etc., and licks the Rescue Remedy off my finger. She's moving the front half, rising up on her front paws, but crying when she does it. She's not moving the back half. I don't see any swellings, or anything to overtly indicate internal bleed out. In the meantime, I'm keeping her company, dosing her every 15 minutes or as she seems to be in more pain, and keeping her warm and still. I know that there's not much anyone can do or advise me, but I guess I was just looking for commiseration. Thanks guys. C.
