Clarice apperantely has pretty bad arthritis. This am I went down to milk and she was so sore. back feet,or hips, ect im not sure what it is but thinking the hock area. she kept shifting back and forth. This of course causes others issues. She didnt want to go out to drink, the mud we had is now frozen and very uneven. I layed a thick layer of hay over it to help but she seems sorta wary of it. did finally walk on it but then just stood there. I can move the hay closer with the next bale. She also didnt want to go to the water. Now I can bring the hay closer or even in the barn but the water I cannot. once I finally got her there she drank some, but not like she should.. its VERY cold. I keep a 5 gallon bucket in the barn that she drinks each nite but just not nuff I dont think.
so my question is what suggestions would you have for the pain. I have white willow tincture and white willow tree. was THINKING of cutting some branchs and offering to her to see if that would help, but I dont want to TAINT the milk either. I did about 30 mins of brushing and rubbing and reiki this noon that she seemed to really enjoy, but I need to figure out this pain. The farmer said she had problems with one foot in the winter because she slipped and injured it, but it seems to be her whole back end. She is in a nice warm stall, very little wind, but the door open to the outside. and has about 3' of straw and hay bedding to lay in. She is going on 9. I had hoped to get several more years out of her, but im just not sure how its gonna work when we get snow.
thanks
