Millie has sure taken over since she's settled in. In fact, I think she's trying to train us to her will and she has help!
Yesterday morning I had the farrier out to trim my horses feet. She, the girl that does my trimming, showed up about the same time that I usually milk Millie. I didn't think too much about it, Millie would have to wait 20 mins. or so while I got the horses up then I'd get to her. Well, by the time I got done with the horses Millie had gone back out to the field to graze... guess she didn't like waiting. I tried for about 45 mins to get her to come back up for milking and she wouldn't budge, she kept avoiding me, so I gave up and figured she'd be up in a bit anyway, I'd just get her then. Well, about 3 hours later she was at the gate calling for me so I went out to get her halter and bring her in. It takes all of 90 seconds to go from my back door, to the barn and back to the gate to get her...by the time I got back she'd laid down and was chewing her cud. I figured, "no big deal" she'll have to get up again....NO, not her. She turned her head to her side and refused to get up. So, I went back out, to the barn, got a handful of grain and came back..of course then she got up, there was food in the offering.
Now this morning I went out, regular time, and she was already out in the pasture. She wasn't too far so I figured she'd be easy to get in... nope! She turned around and headed out! I took off after her, I'd have to get the halter on her and lead her back, but now Julie is her partner in crime too. Every time I'd get close enough to Millie to put the rope over her, Julie would push her way in between us and Millie would take off again! It's like they have a game going to see how much it will take to push my buttons! I finally got her in, but not without getting furious at Julie, the resident brat child, and she was fine after that.
Just what I need, a cow with an attitude!
